Music Venue Trust – Our Mission

Music Venue Trust is a UK registered charity which acts to protect, secure and improve Grassroots Music Venues.

Created in January 2014, we aim to secure the long-term future of iconic Grassroots Music Venues such as Hull Adelphi, Exeter Cavern, Southampton Joiners, The 100 Club, Band on the Wall, Tunbridge Wells Forum etc.

These venues have played a crucial role in the development of British music over the last 40 years, nurturing local talent, providing a platform for artists to build their careers and develop their music and their performance skills.

We work to gain recognition of the essential role these venues fulfil, not only for artist development but also for the cultural and music industries, the economy and local communities. We aim to preserve and improve venues, making them more efficient and improving the experience for performers and audiences. Long-term we plan to acquire the freeholds of as many of these vital venues as possible.

Mark Davyd

Founder & CEO

Mark is the founder and CEO of Music Venue Trust and co-owner of Tunbridge Wells Forum, a venue founded in a toilet over 25 years ago. Since then, Mark has split his time between various music activities; he recently stepped down after 20 years as CEO of the award-winning music charity Rhythmix, he owns Outstanding Music, a 360-degree music company with a specialism in alternative Latin music. Mark is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and a regular speaker at international conferences. He was one of the h100 winners 2015 and won the CC Skills Music Award 2017.

Beverley runs Music Venue Trust, a role which includes managing the team, co-ordinating campaigns and communication, fundraising, profile-raising, producing Venues Day, managing the Music Venues Alliance, liaising with arts/cultural sector partners and representing MVT at national/international meetings. Beverley has over 20 years’ experience of Arts Development, event management, tour co-ordination, building networks, funding, evaluation and strategy. She has worked as a local government Arts Development Officer in 3 different authorities and as a freelance Arts Consultant in London and Barcelona.

Gary Prosser

Creative/Fightback
Gary leads on developing the Fightback brand, working to increase the number of charity gigs which raise money and profile for MVT’s work. He also provides design services to support our work.

Stu Fletcher

Northern Ireland MVA Coordinator
Stu works from Belfast 1 day a week to coordinate MVT’s work with members of the MVA across Northern Ireland.

Chelsea Rixson

Project Manager
Chelsea manages a range of MVT projects on a freelance basis.

Fundraising Consultant
Lucy has worked in the Charity sector for over 20 years in organisations in the arts, music, health, wellbeing and education sectors delivering transformational work.

An expert in licensing policy who offers support and advice to members of the Music Venues Alliance at MVT’s request and advises us on policy.

An expert in planning and noise issues who offers support and advice to MVT and relevant partners, particularly in policy development.
