Venues Day 2018 Partners

With Venues Day 2018 only 6 weeks away Music Venue Trust is excited to share with you the partners whose support is making this year’s national networking event for grassroots music venues possible. These are the organisations who have given us financial assistance to mount the event, offer free/discounted delegate passes for representatives of the venues which make up our Music Venues Alliance, feed and water delegates and even offer travel bursaries for those who could not otherwise attend.

We are grateful to all our event partners but want to extend an especially big thank you to TicketWeb who are headline sponsors for the third Venues Day in a row. As the MVA grows we need to find bigger Venues Day venues to fit as many delegates in as possible and start planning earlier in the year to ensure the programme tackles the issues most pertinent to our members. Strategic partners TicketWeb and UK Music have offered us support over a number of years and knowing that money is pledged means we can plan with confidence.

This Venues Day also sees the return of long-term supporters Jack Daniel’s, Academy Music Group and Help Musicians UK. Jack Daniel’s were our very first grassroots investor and continue to support our work each year, as well as organising fundraising gigs for MVT and providing a complimentary bar at Venues Day. AMG’s support includes a contribution towards the after-event drinks and covering costs of the event itself. HMUK’s support will include travel bursaries for Northern Ireland venues to attend to build on our partnership with the HMNI office and developing the programme for the day (more on that soon).

We are delighted to welcome MusicPlanet Live as sponsors. Although their first Venues Day, MPL and MVT have been working together for some time and are developing a number of strands to benefit GMVs. MPL’s generous offer to underwrite Fightback: Grassroots Promoters has already benefited young female promoters who have received guidance and mentoring to mount their first show. The programme continues and MPL will be at Venues Day to talk about this and other projects of interest to MVA members.

The O2 also join us as first time Venues Day sponsors. Their contribution will co-sponsor the after-event drinks with AMG as well as helping towards our general event costs.

As announced last week, we are delighted that The Sandbox, speed networking between agents and venues, will return this year. Seven of the agencies involved in last year’s pilot are returning: International Talent Booking (ITB), Creative Artists Agency (CAA), X-ray Touring, Coda Music Agency, United Talent Agency (UTA), Primary Talent International, and ATC Live. They will be joined by 13 Artists and representatives of some of the UK’s smaller booking agencies.

Venues Day 2018 takes place on Wednesday 17 October at Islington Assembly Hall, London. The day starts with registration at 10.30am (to allow travelling time) and will be packed with panels, workshops, one-to-one advice, offers and networking opportunities. There will be representatives from grassroots music venues from across the UK plus other related music professionals. Tickets are currently available to Music Venues Alliance members only but will go on general sale on Monday 17 September from https://www.ticketweb.uk/event/venues-day-2018-islington-assembly-hall-tickets/8565525

Further programme details will be released soon so please keep an eye on MVT‘s socials.
