TicketWeb launches service to benefit independent venues

by Ben Homewood, Music Week, 18 Oct 2016

TicketWeb has launched a new service created specifically to benefit independent venues and promoters.

Unveiled today (October 18) at the third annual Venues Day, organised by the Music Venue Trust at London’s Roundhouse, TicketWeb Backline gives grassroots venues and promoters complete control over selling tickets through their individual bespoke platforms. Features of the specially designed portal include end-to-end management, user-friendly functionality, help with PRS responsibilities, social media integration, mobile capabilities and integrated marketing.

Representatives of the company staged live demonstrations at the Venues Day conference, with venue staff and promoters encouraged to interact with the software and ask questions. TicketWeb has been the UK’s leading ticketing provider for indie music and clubs since 1999 and was a headline sponsor of Venues Day.

TicketWeb managing director Sam Isles said “At TicketWeb, maintaining a thriving grassroots music industry is at the heart of what we do. With venues finding it harder than ever to stay afloat, we see it as our duty to do whatever we can to make life easier for them. Working in partnership with the Music Venue Trust has given us first hand insight into the needs and concerns of venues and promoters, and we are confident that TicketWeb Backline will help solve these issues and support venues, promoters and artists across the UK.”

CEO of the Trust, Mark Davyd, who founded the Tunbridge Wells Forum, said: “Venues Day brings together the UK’s industry leaders, experts and music lovers to champion and protect the nation’s grassroots live music. Collaborating with TicketWeb has meant both parties have been able to draw on each other’s expertise to offer relevant solutions for small venues. It is a challenging time in our industry, and building our community through partnerships such as this one is vital for our success.”
